Goodbye PE

I am quite happy that I no longer have to endure PE for this year. Yesterday I did my PE final and turned in my lock. I brought all my stuff home, too. For the final we had to run at least 8 laps in 20 minutes. I ran 9. :) It's not an A but it's passing. Then we had to do push-ups and sit ups. 30 for each is an A. I did 39 sit-ups and 48 push-ups. :) I was even more proud because Adam had only gotten 33 push-ups. Heh heh. He claimed it was easier for me because I'm tiny. Psh! Whatever! Then the whole class had to do the 'plank' as long as they could. If a girl lasted longest, the boys had to run 3 laps. If a boy lasted longest the girls had to run. I was one of the remaining 3 people. I didn't get to see how long we did it for though. Adam was the last boy left. I looked over at him and he was shaking. I was too. All the guys were yelling at me trying to get me to drop and saying I was done because my back was arching. But I wasn't touching the floor so I was still in. The girls were yelling at us too, telling us to stay up. My friends were just encouraging me to ignore everyone. Then Adam dropped. I didn't really care about beating the other girl so I dropped after he was done. My back hurt a lot and my arms were really sore afterwards. I was really proud though. :) All the guys had to do 3 laps. Next week there's a written part of the final. :P But at least there's no more physical stuff.

Catching the Bus

This morning was tiring. I got all ready for school and was going to leave for the bus. On my way out the door I thought, Hmm...I think I need a belt...Oh well! So I started walking to the bus. It takes me about five minutes to get there. I got about half way there when I realized I DON'T HAVE MY BACKPACK! I said "Shit!" and ran as fast as I could back to my house and grabbed it. I was really tired after running so I walked a little ways. Then I jogged about 3/4 of the way. When I got around the corner the bus was sitting there. People had just got on. I ran to the bus and quickly got on. I collapsed into the first open seat in the back and caught my breath. I won't be doing that again...

The Fruit Song

I wrote this today. In English we're in the poetry unit and I have to turn this in as one of my poems. We were assigned to write a song. Secretly the whole thing is an inside joke that Pancake, "Pasta" and I have. :)

The Fruit Song

Verse 1:
Fruit are wonderful foods
They make me smile and laugh
They usually smell really nice
And sometimes I cut them in half

Chorus:
Fruit, fruit
I want to eat you all
Fruit, fruit
I won't ever let you fall

Verse 2:
Peaches are my favorite
Watermelons are yummy
Strawberries smell really good
I want to put 'em in my tummy

Chorus:
Fruit, fruit
I want to eat you all
Fruit, fruit
I won't ever let you fall

Bridge:
Not all of them are great though
Some of them are kind of mean
Like nectarines and pineapples
But in the end...they're all pretty sweet

Chorus:
Fruit, fruit
I want to eat you all
Fruit, fruit
I won't ever let you fall
Fruit, fruit
I want to eat you all
Fruit, fruit
I won't ever let you fall
*fade out*

Best Friends

I have many best friends. My first best friend I ever had is Kacie. Annie is the first real best friend I got when I moved to Oregon.
Annie and I first met in 6th grade. I moved to Oregon in 2006. I went to one middle school but then we moved and we had to switch schools. I had to meet new people again and learn my way around. I tried to carry most of my stuff around with me so I didn't have to make too many locker visits.
I met Annie when I was at my locker. Hers was next to mine. I tried being friendly to everyone so I could quickly make friends. I said hello and also commented on how I thought it was funny that we always saw each other when I came to my locker. She thought I was kind of weird at first because it was totally normal for everyone to go to their lockers during passing periods. Silly me. :) That same year there was a science field trip that all the science classes went to. We sat on the bus together and hung out when we could. We had different teachers.
We really became best friends in 7th grade. We were in the same TAG (talented and gifted) 'block' class (language arts and social studies). We got to choose where we sat so we sat together at the round table. We did lots of video projects together, made more great friendships, hung out a lot more a had sleep overs. Fun times...
In 8th grade we got to be even better friends and were in the same TAG block class again! We made more video projects, made more friends and had more sleep overs.
She supported me when my dog, Obi, died. I started crying when I walked into class and she came out of the room with me. I started bawling! I was embarrassed because when I tried to slow down my breathing and calm down I snorted a lot. She thought it was really funny but didn't laugh, which I'm thankful for. :)
Now this year we're freshmen! We went to lots of football games in the fall and eat lunch together like every day. In the winter we go snowboarding a lot and go to basketball games. We had some good times...like going to the park, baking cookies in the middle of the night, doing yoga... She's a fantastic best friend. :)

I don't really know when I met Kacie. We were both babies. She was 3 months old and I was 9 months old...according to my mom. She lived in Oregon or a while and I lived in California. Then she moved to Texas shortly before I moved to Oregon. Then she moved to California again. We've stayed in touch for all these years and visited each other a lot. She's amazing.

Civil War Baseball

Last year in Social Studies class we had a Civil War unit. One day we went out to the football field to play baseball Civil War style. The balls were really hard and covered in duct tape. I forget what was inside them. The bat was basically a long wooden board with duct tape wrapped around the handle so we could grip it. I was pitching for part of it. One boy, Adam, hit the ball and just wouldn't stop running. "You can't catch me!" I grabbed the ball and sprinted at him when he was rounding 2nd base. I'm not totally sure but I may have been screaming while I ran. When he was just a few feet from 3rd base, we collided in midair. We fell to the ground and I laid there flat on my back for a moment. Everyone was laughing so much. Then I got up, pointed at him and yelled, "You're out!!" It was awesome.

Worst PE Class

I think I'll start with the story of my PE class last Wednesday. Everything was normal. We were going to go jog the dirt trail for 35 minutes. We had to run as many laps as we could. It's a long trail. My teacher said that the benchmark was 3 laps. So I thought, well of course I'll do 3. Normally when we run the dirt trail, people sit on the grass slope next to the school when they finish. It was pretty cold outside. I started off running and was doing really well. I started getting really cold on the second lap, but I kept going and going. No one was there when I finished the second lap. About half way through the third lap, my hands were so cold that they hurt. And I couldn't see anyone anywhere. I started getting a little nervous. When I was almost done, I saw the buses were lined up. I pretty much panicked. I sprinted to the end and all the way up the slope to the school. I actually said out loud, "I don't even care!" I didn't even care if I was supposed to keep going or go to a certain place. If they were in the gym doing an activity or something, I would hide in the locker room so no one would know I was out there that whole time. I ran up to the door that we came out of. It was locked. I turned around and went through the door to the commons. I slowed down to a fast walk when I got inside. On the way down the hall to the locker room, people in my class were walking the opposite way, fully dressed. I now really realized how long I was out there. Embarrassed that people saw me still in PE clothes and red-faced from running, I ran the rest of the way to the locker room. My friend Maya was dressed and getting her stuff. When she saw me she said, "Why didn't you just do two?!" Out of breath I replied, "I thought we had to do three!" I tried to do the combination on my lock but my hands were still so frozen and numb that they were stiff! I could barely move them. I asked Maya to do it for me and gave her the combo. At that point I started crying. She felt so bad for me; she'd never seen me cry before. Another friend put her sweatshirt over me. I was so cold and hurting that I wasn't embarrassed anymore. About a minute after I got in there, the bell rang. I asked Maya to get my stuff out of the locker. She even untied one of my shoes. She helped me so much! I probably would have missed the bus if she hadn't. Before I left the locker room I quickly checked to make sure I didn't look like I'd been crying. That was definitely my worst PE experience.

Hello

I blogged for a while but it's been over a year. I'd like to start over. :)
