Oh Brother

This evening my brother, Joe, and two of his friends created a black, cardboard cat with a dime for an eye and put it in the street to trick people driving by. They laid on the ground. To their surprise, a police car was the first to encounter the cat. The boys were then questioned, asked to clear out their pockets, and taken back to the house in the back of the car. The doorbell rang and the first thing my mom said was "I hope it's not the cops." And it was! He was very serious. My mom could not stop smiling, and Andy and I busted up a little in the front room. He was disappointed that we found it funny and said that they had wasted resources to do that. Someone had called saying kids were looking in cars.
Come on guys, really? I don't think 4 cars, including a big-ass suburban were necessary. No laws were broken, so it really was just a bit funny.

By the way, Prom was so fun!!! I went with my friend Royce. It was a really great time, one of the best this whole year. I'm sooo looking forward to graduating. Today I did homework for over 3 hours and then went to the swim and fitness center to swim laps. I thought swimming a mile would be a good goal...PSH! By the end of one 50m I was tired. I did 14 in a half hour–two 50m shy of half a mile. I was exhausted but it was great!

Mr. Thunder Dance 2013

I figured since I posted this pretty much everywhere else, might as well post it here. These boys are so amazing and I'm so impressed by them. The Mr. Thunder Pageant is April 23. So excited. I'm sorry for my spastic screams and laughter. Also I recommend you watch it in HD.
Shout out to Taylor, Max, and Dave!

Sadie Hawkins

Today is the last day of finals for this semester. There are still 40 minutes left in my Spanish class. I'm SO glad because my government teacher isn't making the midterm count for our grade this semester. So my grades will be pretty good on my transcript for this semester.

I've been stressing about scholarships. I'm going to get at least one just for my test scores and GPA and all that but I need to make some more things happen. I know it'll be okay though. I'll try and save up as much as I can over the summer and I'll likely get a little extra for graduation.

In other news, I have a date tonight! That's exciting... It's Sadie Hawkins tonight so I'm taking him on a date. We're skipping out on the dance but we'll get dinner and I want to go ice skating. Hopefully I won't make a fool of myself. I've been trying this new thing lately--not giving a shit. It's been working pretty well so far. :)

This picture has nothing to do with this but I like it.

Moments of Pride

I learned how to play Mad World on the piano (Gary Jules), and it's very easy to play but still--great song. Also I'm drinking tea. I don't like tea. This stuff is good. I made myself drink it 'cause I'm sick and have junk in my throat and I have to have a clear throat so I can sing in Fiddler on the Roof and tea's good for that. It's almost 1 AM...I'm really just rambling right now. Today I helped Kate set up her basement for her party on Friday. We painted the walls black, or at least added another coat, and splattered neon paint everywhere. Also there are black lights and strobes, and we hung sheets and Christmas lights all over the place. It looks amazing. I'm excited. Also, I finished my homework for AP Calculus today (reading the first chapter) so now I just have to make a chart of political issues and write a paper on who I'd vote for and why. :P Blurgh. I don't even care about politics. I have 11 days to write that, clean my room, clean the bathrooms (because I'm weird and am getting OCD about them), and wash/clean my car. It's been gathering filth all summer. Darn...I'm out of tea. I want more. :( Maybe I'll clean my room tonight. I often feel jealous towards other blog-writers. They all seem so intellectual. I don't even try very hard to have exceptional writing so it just sounds like me talking. In other news, I asked a cute guy for directions today. I know him from school and I saw him on the way to drop a friend off at her friend's house. He smiled at me as I passed him. Then on the way back I stopped for directions because I actually needed them. I never talk about guys on here. I don't see why I shouldn't, at least little things like that. It's just something in my life, and here I go rambling again. I think I'm really tired. I have a lot of laundry to put away and some is in the dryer. At least tomorrow I can sleep in. Oh! It's Keala's birthday! She's 7! Gah these kids are getting so old. And geez, so am I. I've heard that the last year of high school is loads of fun and it goes by fast. It's a bit frightening, but I'm mostly just extremely stoked for it. I can't wait to see what happens to all of our lives, even if I'll be sad to say goodbye to people. I'm gonna be so sad next fall... But that's over a year away. Wow this is a random one! I'm gonna make more tea. At least now I can bring it to rehearsal and stuff since I know I like it. Well, this kind anyway. By the way, rehearsals are SO much fun. We rotate dancing, singing, and acting the last 2 hours of the day. Dancing is my favorite. It's going to be so great! I've invited a bunch of family to come see the show in October. I can't wait to get totally done with all the songs so we can practice with the band/orchestra in the pit. My, my I say I've written enough for one post, especially since this is so all over the place. If anyone still reads my blog, please feel free to comment so I know you're there... Even if no one does, I'm not going to stop posting! :)

Famous

This morning I got up early and went over to the library at 8:15. I was invited by my friend Max to be an extra in the library's new commercial. I found out when I got there that the commercial would be in Spanish...on the Spanish channel. But still! I'm in a commercial! I didn't get paid but it was a very fun time. Max, Christian, and I goofed around a lot. They're hilarious. We just had to walk around a bit and look at books and sit at the computers. I carried around Harry Potter 6. Afterwards we went to Starbucks and had hot cocoa. Definitely a good morning. Keep an eye on the Spanish channel.
I might start work at the mountain tomorrow!

Tropical Tango

Tonight I went to the Tropical Tango dance at my school. I had a blast for the most part. I didn't go to the last two dances because most of my friends didn't. I'm glad we got to go to this one. I learned something tonight about the structure of the crowd. In the middle are the couples and huge groups of upperclassmen friends and they're all squished really tightly. On the outer rim are the girls without dates and the people who just got asked to dance. Then on the very outside are guys without dates, wandering around, looking for someone to dance with. In other words, mostly creepy people.
I hung out with my friends in the 2nd layer mostly. One time, when the song Take On Me started playing, I went up to the front with Kate and we totally got into it. I love that song! Then all of a sudden someone's hands were touching my waist and they said, "Do you want to dance?" They let go when I turned half way around to look at them. I was kind of in shock. I'd never even met the guy before. I think he was a sophomore. I quickly tried to search for a semi-polite way to say no. I said, "Uhhhh, not right now." He turned and left without a word. I felt slightly awkward after that because I totally rejected him and Kate was looking at me like 'why didn't you say yes?!' But I was proud of myself and my self-esteem is high enough that I don't need to dance with someone I don't know to raise it. I mean geez! He invaded my space! He jumped to the conclusion that I'd say yes; touch first, ask questions later. *Shudder* I wonder if I set him straight... Doesn't anyone still follow the 'Stranger Danger' rule? Gosh!
I had no interest in getting asked to dance by random people. I sort of made a point in avoiding those situations. It worked for me but Annie and Kate got ambushed by people at the same time. I saw it coming too! I had repositioned myself a minute before so that I was facing outward from the crowd. Annie and Kate were facing in. I saw a big group of guys come up behind them and I whispered to Annie, "They're like a pack, hunting!" *Shudder again* They were whispering with each other and looking at them. Then they just came up behind them without even asking at all! I widened my eyes at Annie, trying to warn her but she was looking at the guy ambushing Kate. Then the guy put his hands on her and she made a really funny, shocked, slightly uncomfortable, kind of smiling face. I was sort of shocked again when I realized that both of them were occupied so I gave them a weak little wave and made my way away from them and met up with Maya. They danced for like 10 minutes, till the end of the whole dance. I wouldn't call that very romantic but whatever floats your boat.

Mountain

Yesterday I went snowboarding yesterday with Annie and Jake. We went on some pretty difficult runs with lots of deep powder, including one that was at about the top. I'm good on groomed snow, but powder is my weakness. Then we met up with Nick, Adam, Max and Gus. They're a bunch of guys that go to our school. Gus was the only one who wasn't better than me.
I had to have crashed like 100 times, but it was SOOO fun! I did a lot of rolling down the mountain with backwards somersaults. They're really fun if you don't get hurt. For example, I started doing that and on the second tumble I got a bunch of snow in my mouth and choked on it! :P
I didn't get too hurt that day. Getting off the lift I tripped and the board wacked my shin. It's swollen and has a little cut but it's fine. And once I crashed and my knee hit my cheek really hard. I had a temporary fat lip but it's gone now. I can really tell that I'm improving though! It's exciting! I love it.

Dumb Boy

Yesterday on the bus there was a new kid. He was just riding for that day. My bus has to stop at the middle school. A bunch of 6th grade girls were sitting in the same general area behind me. I was sitting in the aisle seat next to Pasta in the window seat. I was slouched down with my knee on the seat in front of me, listening to my ipod. The the new kid, was interested by the fact that there were a bunch of middle schoolers on the bus. He started asking the people around him what grade they were in. Most of them were in 6th grade. He pointed at each person in the aisle saying "Sixth? Sixth?" Then he pointed and me and asked me, "Sixth?" I just stared at him with my mouth open a little and my eyes slightly narrowed. If I could, I'd be raising one eyebrow. It was just the kind of face my mom would make. He responded to my expression asking, "Seventh?" I spoke loud and slow, "I'm a freshman." Surprised, he said, "You're a freshman? Oh geez."
Dumb boy.

Civil War Baseball

Last year in Social Studies class we had a Civil War unit. One day we went out to the football field to play baseball Civil War style. The balls were really hard and covered in duct tape. I forget what was inside them. The bat was basically a long wooden board with duct tape wrapped around the handle so we could grip it. I was pitching for part of it. One boy, Adam, hit the ball and just wouldn't stop running. "You can't catch me!" I grabbed the ball and sprinted at him when he was rounding 2nd base. I'm not totally sure but I may have been screaming while I ran. When he was just a few feet from 3rd base, we collided in midair. We fell to the ground and I laid there flat on my back for a moment. Everyone was laughing so much. Then I got up, pointed at him and yelled, "You're out!!" It was awesome.
